Hereford, Texas, August 2007 -
A Minnesota company has paid a $7,500 fine for safety violations that led to a fatal crane accident in February at an ethanol refinery construction site. One man was killed and another man was injured as they were trying to disassemble a crane boom to add another section. OSHA issued about $10,000 in proposed fines against the company in June for crane safety violations, stating they were not operated by qualified personnel, and workers were not kept clear of loads that were suspended or about to be lifted.
