Hirschmann executives broke ground on the company's new Chambersburg facility on April 3.

April 4, 2007 - Last week, St. Louis, Mo.-based Belden, a leading manufacturer of signal transmission solutions, completed the acquisition of Hirschmann Automation and Control, Chambersburg, Pa., from European private equity investor HgCapital. April 4, 2007 - Taking a popular telehandler model and making significant changes is no simple task. Not only does the manufacturer have to make functional adjustments in order for the machine to be more efficient, but it also must indulge its customers by continuing the use of "old favorites" in the new design.

Less than two years ago, Genie Industries, Redmond, Wash., took responsibility for the Terex telehandlers and made minor changes to the machines' design, including rebranding them as the GTH Series, changing the nomenclature to meet the new series designation, and painting the models its signature blue and gray colors. Amherst , Mass., April 2007 - A 55-year-old painter at a university construction site died after he became lodged between a roof beam and the scissor lift he was operating. Officials say he was painting alone when he was pinned by the machine, and he was freed only after co-workers climbed up the scissor lift to dislodge him.

According to a university spokesperson, the district attorney's office, federal OSHA, and the state police were on the scene investigating the accident, alongside the university's Office of Environmental Health and Safety. - www.eyewitnessnewstv.com.
