November 18, 2008 – Lift and Access has named winners of its Leadership in Lifting Equipment and Aerial Platforms (LLEAP) Awards, which are intended to recognize products, accessories, or design concepts that are considered innovative or have advanced the state of the lifting equipment industry. The Platinum winners for the fourth annual LLEAP Awards were Waco, Texas-based Manitou for its MHT Series telehandlers and La Farlede, France-based Made-SA for its Sky Mx power line detection system.

November 18, 2008 – Calling it an “innovation that will save lives,” judges for the Lift and Access Leadership in Lifting Equipment and Aerial Platforms (LLEAP) Awards ranked Made-SA’s Sky Mx with marks high enough to make it a top winner in the competition. The power line detection system won the Platinum Award for Support Products and Services.
Accidents that result from contact between equipment and high-voltage lines are an issue throughout the lifting and access industry.

Charlotte, N.C., November 2008 – No one was seriously injured after a crane lifting a load of 75-pound steel beams came loose, falling 51 floors and smashing glass panels on a building under construction on the way down. A piece of metal also hit a school bus.
