Lift and Access LLEAP Entries Due July 10!
For the fifth year, Lift and Access is holding the Leadership in Lifting Equipment and Aerial Platforms (LLEAP) Awards, which are intended to recognize products, accessories, or design concepts that are considered innovative or have advanced the state of the lifting equipment industry. To qualify for consideration, products must have been introduced or delivered to the North American market between April 1, 2008, and March 31, 2009.

Grove RT Crane Critical to Wisconsin Building Renovation

June 23, 2009 – While renovating and upgrading a glass-sided bank and commercial office building in downtown Madison, Wis., a Grove RT875E rough-terrain crane was called in to help erect steel beams for a building addition and deliver materials, such as pallets of glass panes to workers. The remodeling project consisted of removing two angled glass atriums, which were not energy efficient. In fact, the atriums trapped so much heat the building had to be cooled even in the middle of Wisconsin’s cold winters.

Unique Configuration, Cool Color Set JLG Telehandler Apart

June 23, 2009 – First manufactured and marketed by Gradall before it was acquired by JLG Industries, McConnellsburg, Pa., the G6-42P was recently rebranded as JLG and integrated into the JLG-brand telehandler line. The G6-42P is now one of 11 machines in the JLG line, which does not include the SkyTrak and Lull machines. Although the unit shares many of the same design philosophies as the JLG G6-42A, the G6-42P features a construction that is truly unique to the industry. The machine’s distinctive 90° pivot-steering axle configuration, along with its bright blue color, set it apart.

Manitou, Ky., June 2009 – A contract electrician helper was killed while operating an 85-foot boom lift between the 4th and 5th floors of a coal plant under construction. The man had been pulling and strapping metal-clad cable that was to be wired to equipment on the 5th floor.
