The 2010 Hot Line Crane Guide will take on a new appearance with several additional categories of lifting equipment. To better serve the needs of the construction industry, Maximum Capacity Media has added aerial lifts, telehandlers, and straight-mast forklifts to the 2010 Guide.

The 2010 Hot Line Crane Guide also will include a limited number of newer tower and self-erecting cranes in the updated edition. Additionally, the guide has separated truck-mounted cranes into two sections. Lift and Access Announces 2009 LLEAP Award Winners

  Liebherr's LTM 1100-4.2 110-ton mobile crane won a Platinum LLEAP Award.

October 13, 2009  Lift and Access has named winners of its Leadership in Lifting Equipment and Aerial Platforms (LLEAP) Awards, which are intended to recognize products, accessories, or design concepts that are considered innovative or have advanced the state of the lifting equipment industry. The Platinum winners for the fifth annual LLEAP Awards were Ehingen, Germany-based Liebherr for its LTM 1100-4.2 mobile crane, and South Gate, Calif.-based Arnco for its ecofil flatproofing tire fill.

Manitowoc Open House Previews New Mega Crawler Crane

Manitowoc previewed its 31000 crawler crane last month.

October 13, 2009 – In September, Manitowoc hosted an open house and tour of its manufacturing facility in Manitowoc, Wis. The highlight of the open house was a preview of the company’s new mega 2,535-ton Model 31000 crawler crane. The massive lower carbody—which looked more like a transporter for a space shuttle than a crane—and crane block were on display. The crane is expected to be ready for testing by the end of 2009. Delivery of the first crane to Bulldog Erectors, Newberry, S.C., is scheduled for late 2010.

Philadelphia, Pa., October 2009 – A construction worker was killed and several other people were injured after a boom lift toppled over. The 40-year-old worker was operating the boom lift and fell 125 feet to the ground when the machine toppled over.
