Scott Powerline GTC-600 is First in Field

Scott Powerline and Utility Equipment has been the first to introduce several new Tadano Mantis models over the years. And the latest telescopic boom crawler crane for Scott Powerline is the GTC-600, which is the first of this model to be received by a dealer, placed in a rental fleet and now put on a job site. The 66-ton machine is currently working on a 20-mile powerline transmission construction project in Texas for Can-Fer Utility Services LLC, a Quanta Services company.

Yokohama Tire Corporation’s (YTC) announced that Rick Alonzo has joined the company as senior director of supply chain and logistics. He will report to Yokohama COO Jeff Barna.

“Rick brings more than 20 years’ experience in supply chain management, logistics and procurement and is well-versed in leading large multi-site distribution centers,” Barna said. “He’ll definitely be a major asset for us.”

Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. has announced the hiring of Tim Yauilla as Operations Manager for the equipment distributor’s Kansas City location, which will open in mid-summer 2017. Yauilla will be responsible for Kansas City’s branch operations, including parts, service, sales and rental operations oversight. Prior to Kirby-Smith, he spent the past 26 years with Link-Belt Construction Equipment in various roles such as Branch Manager for the Norfolk, VA area, and District Manager for the Southeastern United States.

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) has updated its Digger Derrick Safety Manual with new and expanded content on safe equipment operation, start-up and shutdown, and maintenance precautions.

The AEM Digger Derrick Safety Manual features key terms for calculating load capacities when using a digger derrick for lifting operations. Information on lifting, pole setting and digging operation as well as personnel platform safety is included. Updated safety symbols and pictograms and a cleaner format enhance the safety messages.

Fassi and Giuffre: Six years of rescue and recovery at Indy

This May, Fascan and Giuffre Brothers Cranes, marked their 6th year of coming to the aid of disabled vehicles at the famed Indianapolis 500.     

In 2011, the two companies teamed up to operate the Safety Recovery Vehicle (SRV) to ensure the quick, careful removal of any vehicles rendered unable to continue the race, either by accident or mechanical failure.  

Volvo Penta extends its Stage V offer with a higher output for its latest D11 engine

Volvo Penta is announcing a higher power output for its latest 11-liter diesel engine, to run at 315 kW – up from 285 kW when it was initially revealed – to provide an even more comprehensive range of uses for customers. The engine will be on display at the TOC Europe material handling conference in Amsterdam, from June 27-29.

Terex Cranes distributor CraneWorks has taken delivery of one of the first Demag® five-axle all terrain cranes in the U.S. The AC 220-5 is now available for purchase.

“With this acquisition, CraneWorks now has 370 machines in North America, including 46 Terex and Demag cranes,” said Keith Ayers, CEO of CraneWorks, Inc. “This Demag AC 220-5 crane joins the Terex AC 100/4L unit we recently added to our rental fleet, giving our customers the ability to easily handle their toughest jobs.”
