Deutz Partners with Manitou on Electric, Hybrid Telehandler Prototypes

Deutz AG teamed up with Manitou Group to outfit two telehandler prototypes with electric drive lines.

The keys for the first prototypes—one with a hybrid drive, the other full-electric—were handed over as part of the Deutz Electrip Event Week, held Sept. 15-21 in Cologne, Germany.

The full-electric Manitou MT 1135 telehandler is equipped with a 360-volt vehicle power supply and a 60-kW electric motor. The battery, with a 30-kWh capacity, ensures that the required level of energy is delivered. The MT 1335 usually comes with a 75-kW Deutz TCD 3.6 diesel engine.

AEMP Names New CEO

The Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP) selected Donté P. Shannon, as its new CEO to replace Stan Orr, who is retiring after 20 years at the helm of AEMP.

Shannon has worked extensively in association management for 12 years, the last three as the executive director of the Specialty Advertising Association of California.  

Manitou Group Redesigns Website for Easier Use

Manitou Group unveiled a new version of its corporate website, www.manitou-group.com, as part of its plans for digital transformation.

Along with the key information it provides, the website functionality has been redesigned to offer users an optimal browsing experience.

The main new features include two areas dedicated entirely to media professionals and investors, direct access to the recruitment platform, prominence given to Corporate Social Responsibility, and a clean, understated, modern design.

Ruthmann Debuts Ecoline 230 at Platformers’ Days

Ruthmann showcased the Ecoline 230, a truck-mounted aerial work platform with a rigid telescopic system, at the Platformers’ Days 2018 show in Germany.

It has a 75-ft. working height and lateral outreach of up to 55 ft. The model will also be released in North America.

The Ecoline 230 is designed for work in cramped, inner-city residential areas because of its compact dimensions. The new model is just 25-ft. long and less than 10-ft. high, with a basket load capacity of 550 lbs. With a 220-lb. basket load, the unit can still attain a lateral outreach of 55 ft.

Trojan Battery Introduces New Logo, Refreshes Brand

Trojan Battery Co. LLC updated its brand with a new look that includes a modern logo, vibrant colors, revised product branding, and a new tagline: Charging Forward.

The refreshed image will be incorporated in Trojan’s marketing campaigns, collateral, and new website, which is slated for later this year.  The classic maroon color of Trojan batteries will remain the same.

ANSI A92 Annual Meeting Date, Hotel Set for 2018

The Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA) announced the ANSI Accredited Standards Developers (ASC) A92 annual meeting will be held Oct. 22-24 at the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista in Orlando.

The SAIA serves as the secretariat for the A92 standards.

The association says it has negotiated a special room rate at the host hotel, and reservations can be made here. The deadline for reservations is Oct. 1, and registrants need to mention the SAIA in order to secure the group rate.

California Aerial Equipment Rental Companies Merge to Become RESCO

Two California aerial equipment rental companies merged to form Rental Equipment Service Company (RESCO).

This move makes RESCO now one of the largest independently owned, full-service dealers in the state, which will allow both companies to better leverage their size and resources on behalf of their customers.

Under the merger, West Coast Equipment LLC and D&D Lift Inc., which are both authorized dealers of JLG, Gradall, Skytrak, and Princeton machines, will retain their individual name, logo, and brand identity.

Lifting Gear Hire (LGH) is upgrading its load cell fleet with Straightpoint’s (SP) Radiolink plus units up to 220,000 lbs. in capacity.

The Radiolink plus, which is the U.K. manufacturer’s top selling load cell, is capable of both weighing and dynamic load monitoring for many applications.

The order from LGH will be delivered over a two- to-three-year period, ultimately resulting in 23 LGH lifting equipment rental facilities in the U.S. and Canada stocking exclusively SP product.
