Manitou’s brand new MLT 960 telehandler offers 13,200-lb. maximum capacity, lifting heights to 29’6”, and a 13’1” minimum turning radius. Although designed primarily for agriculture, waste management, and biogas applications, the versatile MLT 960 offers features that deliver high productivity in construction, too.

The 141-hp. Tier 4 Interim John Deere diesel engine uses diesel particulate filter (DPF) technology. The continuously variable transmission automatically provides the right torque and speed for maximum tractive effort and smooth operation at any speed. It lets the engine run at the most efficient speed for maximum fuel economy. Maximum travel speed is 25 mph.

The hydraulic system’s load-sensing variable-displacement piston pump brings full hydraulic system pressure when it’s needed while offering higher efficiency and less heat than a gear pump. Standard auxiliary hydraulics bring 3,900 psi of pressure and 47.7 gpm of flow.

The new, Manitou-patented, Duplex boom provides 360° of visibility due to its low mounting position. Its high-quality steel brings a stronger overall design, and a reduction in overall weight of its internal components increases lifting capacities with a minimal increase in machine size.

Comfort is key for operators spending much of their day in the cab of the machine. For greater operator efficiency, switches and controls are grouped according to function. Drive, boom, and hydraulic functions are all controlled by the JSM (joystick, switch & move) control, leaving the operator's other hand free to control the steering wheel. A highly-visible, side-mounted, interactive dashboard digitally displays the hour meter, speed, travel direction, and maintenance reminders.

With its large lift capacity and high lift height, the MLT 960 telescopic loader provides a unique alternative to large wheel loaders. It provides a fixed load capacity while turning, extended forward and vertical reach, and extra bucket curl over large wheel loader models.

The unit also provides excellent versatility. The quick-fit mounting system connects easily to a wide range of Manitou-tested attachments. A hydraulic lock option provides for fast attachment changes without leaving the operator’s seat. A wide variety of approved attachments include forks, rotating carriages, buckets (including a 5-cu.-yd. bucket), grapples, bale handlers, and hay handlers.

Additional comfort comes from cushioned stops on the lifting cylinders, which create smoother operation when lowering and extending the boom. The optional Comfort Ride Control (CRC) boom suspension system minimizes the loss of material when traveling.

To simplify maintenance access, the large engine cover is hinged and equipped with gas springs that help lift the cover and hold it open during servicing. The engine, cooling system, and daily maintenance points are easily accessible through the large engine cover. Grease fittings are centralized, making regular axle lubrication easy.

The MLT 960 can raise 8,000 lbs. to its 29’6” maximum lifting height or lift 3,000 lbs. at its 17’5” maximum forward reach. Loaded, it can lift to full height in 9.5 seconds or fully extend the boom in 9.7 seconds.
