Manitou Unveils MHT1490 Telehandler at ConExpo

Manitou Group has unveiled its latest high-capacity telehandler in the MHT series, the MHT1490.

The new telehandler, which Manitou previewed at ConExpo, can lift up to 20,000 lbs. and has a  46.-ft. maximum lift height. At maximum height, the MHT1490 can lift 13,200 lbs, and at its maximum forward reach of 31 ft., lift 6,600 lbs. The machine weighs 42,990 lbs., measures 8’3” wide, 9’10” tall, 22’0” long (not counting the forks), and has a turning radius of 13’2”.

The MHT1490 is the first Manitou material handler to feature a Tier IV Final engine. The 4-cylinder, 176-hp diesel engine is equipped with exhaust gas recycling and selective catalytic reduction. The hydrostatic transmission is coupled to a gearbox, enabling travel at up to 24.8 mph.

A reinforced chassis and front stabilizers let the MHT 1490 handle heavy loads. The machine features a three-section telescopic boom that is extended by a hydraulic cylinder and triplex chain system. All of chains, hoses, actuators, and other components are inside the boom sections to reduce the risk of damage.  The carriage at the boom tip can rotate 135°, and a wide range of attachments lets it handle a variety of jobs.

Automatic rear axle locking increases lateral stability, which significantly increases the machine’s capacity, and it’s easy to level, thanks to proportional valves that provide flexible, precise movements. Leaning can be corrected 6.5° on the stabilizers or 8° on the tires.

Standard features of the MHT Series include an ergonomic cab equipped with a precise dashboard and a longitudinal stability indicator, along with an Aggravated Movements Arrestor system; a load status regulator, Joystick Switch and Move single lever control, frame leveling, three steering modes (four-wheel, two-front wheel driven, crab operation), and a Manitou fitting system.
