Single-Owner Ritchie Bros. Auction Breaks Record

Ritchie Bros. conducted the largest single-owner auction in the company’s history, selling more than $54 million of equipment for Energy Transportation in Casper, Wyoming. The auction included 38 cranes, which sold for more than $35 million. A highlight of the auction was a 2010 600-ton Liebherr LTM1500-8.1 all-terrain crane, which sold for $3.35 million—the most expensive AT crane sold by Ritchie Bros. to date.

The Wyoming auction and attracted more than 3,000 on-site and online bidders from 47 countries. More than $43 million (78%) of equipment was sold to buyers outside the state. Online bidders purchased approximately $20 million (36%) of equipment.

Energy Transportation was founded by Dan McGlade in the early 1980s. In early 2015, he sold the operating interests of Energy Transportation to NCSG Crane & Heavy Haul Corp, but chose to sell the equipment through the unreserved auction in Casper.
