At its 2011 annual meeting in Minneapolis, Minn., in August, the Scaffold Industry Association (SIA) voted overwhelmingly to change its name to the Scaffold and Access Industry Association (SAIA), starting Oct. 1, 2011.
As chairperson of SIA’s aerial work platform council, the name change is music to my ears. I had long said that the association needed to include “access” in its name if it wanted to convince the access world that the organization was serious about representing all segments of the scaffold and access industry.
