OSHA Seeking Comments on Proposed Crane Operator Certification Rule

WASHINGTON, D.C. – OSHA is seeking public comment until June 20 on its proposed rule aiming to clarify crane operator certification requirements.  

The proposal reinstates the employer duty to ensure that a crane operator is qualified to safely operate equipment, OSHA said. 

J.T. Bates to Offer Damage Protection for Construction Equipment

HILLIARD, Ohio –  J.T. Bates Insurance Group will offer Physical Damage Protection to provide physical damage coverage for equipment financed for sale or long-term lease.

The new service will be available June 25 from the insurance group, which is a division of J. Griffin Ricker & Associates that specializes in risk management products for equipment dealers, rental companies, and material handling equipment dealers.

Deutz Power Centers Are Now Authorized Genie Service Centers

NORCROSS, Ga. – Deutz Corporation and Terex AWP have partnered to make Deutz Power Centers authorized service and parts centers for Genie-branded MEWPs. 

The Deutz Power Center locations in Chicago; St. Louis; Kansas City, Missouri; and Rock Hill, South Carolina are equipped to perform service, warranty, unplanned repairs, and supply service parts for Genie Z and S booms, GS scissors lifts, and GTH telehandlers.

Runnion Equipment Service Manager to Retire

LYONS, Ill. –Runnion Equipment Company announced that after 30 years, its service manager,  Guy Tanney, will retire.

Tanney joined Runnion in 1987 as a mechanic specializing in auto and truck bodywork. He was promoted to service manager in 1996 to oversee on-site and in-shop maintenance and repairs. In addition, he developed Runnion’s internal crane inspection guidelines and supervised technician hiring through the Runnion mentorship program.

Skid-Lift Introduces Two Lightweight Models

Skid-Lift is offering two new Standard models, the 1530S and 2030S, which are lighter weight  than its flagship 2030E HD model.

Unlike the 2030E HD, the 1530S and 2030S models do not offer side tilt or a deck extension. There is also only one attach plate on the side of these models as opposed to two on the HD model. This allows the reduction in weight and costs, while still offering all the benefits of a Skid-Lift: a safe working platform, the ability to work on uneven terrain, ease of use, simple setup, and easy transportation.

Hawe Hydraulik Acquires Hydra-Fab Fluid Power

Hawe Hydraulik acquired a majority of the shares of Hydra-Fab Fluid Power Inc. in Ontario, a deal that is effective June 1.

Hawe Hydraulik will have a 55% stake in the company, while 45% of the shares remain with Richard Gores, who continues to act as general manager.

Hydra-Fab Fluid Power has been a HAWE distributor serving Ontario for 18 years. The company supports the industrial, power generation, and mobile markets and is a specialist in work holding hydraulics as well as in filtration.
