Italian manufacturer Oil & Steel S.p.A. will participate at this year’s ARA Rental Show in Atlanta, Ga., showing its new access platform. Oil & Steel, a European leader of the truck-mounted and tracked access platform industry, will present the new Octopus 55, a lightweight access platform installed on tracks.
“The participation in The Rental Show in Atlanta follows a precise expansion strategy of our company in the American market and in the USA in particular,” said Andrea Certo, CEO of Oil & Steel. “We are really confident about the future success of the Octopus line especially after the several requests that we’ve been receiving during 2008. Through PM Group North America LLC, run by Stefano Ghesini, we’ve already delivered some pieces of this product line.”
The Octopus 55 is quite compact—just more than 2.5 feet wide wide and 6.56 feet high—and can pass through a domestic door and work in narrow spaces. The new Octopus 55 can be stabilized in just 8.2 x 8.2 feet. This model, thanks to its reduced dimensions and weight, can be easily transported with a small trailer or loaded on a small truck and can also be moved with cranes.
The Octopus 55 is a single/double operator platform. Becaue of a special loading device installed on the basket, the operator can choose to work with a 300-pound single operator or 500-pound, two-operator working area.
Using the 300-pound working area, the Octopus 55 can attain over 55 feet of maximum working height and about 22 feet of lateral outreach. With the 500 pounds selected, the platform offers over 49 feet of maximum working height and about 17 feet of lateral outreach.
The Octopus 55 is equipped with two different power systems: a diesel engine and a 110V electric single-phase auxiliary engine, which is useful in case of indoor application or the necessity for avoiding noises and exhaust gas. The Octopus 55 complies with the last ANSI regulations.
