Teupen Unveils 46kV Insulated Compact Lift | Construction News

Teupen, a leading manufacturer of compact tracked lifts, has released the TC69A-IN lift with insulated basket, the newest addition Teupen's Canopy Series for tree care. Teupen expects the new lift to be an industry leader in safe, maneuverable machinery for working close to high-voltage power lines.

Unveiled at the recent TCI Expo in Baltimore, the TC69A-IN is rated at 46kV for safety and is insulated to ANSI A92.2 Category C specifications. That lets the operator safely work around power supplies up to 46,000 volts when the upper boom is extended at least 40 in. That is the same standard as for bucket trucks, and is now available in a portable, stable lift.

Featuring hydraulic hook-up inside, the TC69A-IN’s basket is auto-leveling and boasts 180° rotation for greater access during jobs. The lift can reach a working height of more than 68 ft. and offers a boom that extends nearly 35 ft.

Unlike other machines, all cylinders and wiring are inside the boom and hydraulic hoses in the upper boom are non-conducting (no braiding in the walls). Additionally, wireless controls in the basket offer another layer of electrical protection.

“Keeping workers and machine operators safe has always been Teupen’s highest priority when designing our products,” said David Kesser, Teupen USA executive vice president. “The base specifications are impressive, but what sets our TC69A-IN apart is its layers of features that make work near high-voltage power safer for workers.”

Special wear pads in the upper boom increase protection while eliminating the need to grease the upper boom extension. The basket also uses a reinforced fiberglass construction to reduce conductivity and increase operator safety.
