ZF Efficiency Package Improves Steering for Telehandlers

Passau, Germany-based ZF Industries offers its efficiency package for axles to tackle the challenges associated with demands on off-road machinery. The efficiency package for axles includes Optisteer, which is an innovative steering kinematics available for telescopic handler steering axles.

Optisteer improves steering and reduces tire wear while still maintaining a tight turning radius. Steering angle error can be reduced by more than 50 percent, resulting in a reduction of tire side force by a minimum of 40 percent, and consequently a corresponding reduction of tire wear. Improved fuel efficiency, increased tire life, and reduced stress on tie rods, wheel bearings, and other axle components are additional benefits of the new feature. The company said users can save up to $1,000 after just 500 hours.

The package also includes a low speed wheel brake, which means less heat generation, fewer power losses, less fuel consumption, and higher brake capacity. A cylindrical roller bearing in final drive creates less heat generation, less power loss and less fuel consumption.
