February 3, 2012–Manitowoc, Shady Grove, Pa., renewed its partnership with Ascorel, its Kennesaw, Ga.-based supplier of anti-collision technology for Potain tower cranes. Ypsilanti, Mich., February 2012 -
A worker was injured seriously after falling 40 feet from the platform of a boom lift at a construction project. The worker was one of two working in a boom lift during construction of a school addition. Both workers were ejected from the lift when a falling truss struck it. One worker ended up hanging upside down 35 feet in the air from his safety harness. He was lowered to ground without injury. The other fell 40 feet onto a concrete wall and then eight feet more into a pit. He was flown to a local hospital by rescue helicopter and reported in serious but stable condition. Power-boom System Increases Liebherr Lattice-Boom Capacity

January 12, 2012–Liebherr, Ehingen, Germany, has released the new P-boom system, designed to increase the lifting capacity of its lattice-boom cranes. The ‘power’ or ‘parallel’ boom’s P-adapters, help the system improve stability in the direction of the load, as well as to the side. The result, according to Liebherr, is significantly increased lifting capacity with long boom systems.
