MEC Aerial Work Platforms launched its newest innovation, the patent-pending Xtra Deck scissor lifts and 34-J telescopic boom.

For MEWP operators, safely gaining extra height into confined areas has long been a major industry challenge. MEC now offers the Micro13-XD and Micro19-XD micro slab scissor lifts featuring a pull down Xtra Deck, providing an additional 20 in. height compact platform with telescopic guardrails.

Ritchie Bros. Sells $237M at Florida Equipment Auction

Ritchie Bros. held its premiere global auction in Orlando, Florida, on Feb. 17-22, selling more than 13,500 equipment items and trucks for more than $237 million.

The six-day sale set a new company record for attendees, registering a staggering 18,100 people from 85 countries.

ANSI A92 MEWP Standards Effective Date Extended to June 1

The ANSI A92 Main Committee voted to push back the effective date for the new suite of MEWP standards to June 1, according to DeAnna Martin, executive director and ANSI liaison of the Scaffold & Access Industry Association.

This is the second time the effective date has been delayed since the A92 suite, which include the A92.20 design, A92.22 safe use, and A92.24 training requirements, were submitted to ANSI for publication at the end of 2018. Ongoing appeals have contributed to the delays.

Sunbelt Rentals, one of the largest rental equipment companies in North America, is partnering with RB Asset Solutions by Ritchie Bros. to manage its more than $10-billion fleet across its more than 900 rental locations.

Sunbelt Rentals’ officials say the RB Asset Solutions technology will help the company better manage, analyze, and redeploy its assets.

Snorkel to Reveal 210-Ft. Boom Lift at 2020 ConExpo

Snorkel plans to unveil what the company is calling “the world’s largest self-propelled boom lift” at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2020 in Las Vegas March 10-14.

The new Snorkel 2100SJ telescopic boom lift, dubbed a “mega boom,” reaches a maximum platform height of 210 ft., provides an industry-leading horizontal outreach up to 100 ft., and an unrestricted platform capacity of 660 lbs. For enhanced access and flexibility at height, a 30 ft. jib boom, with a working arc of -55° to +73°, combines with 150° rotation of the 8 ft. by 3 ft. tri-entry platform.

Genie, JLG Sign ANSI A92 Petition to End Appeals

On Friday, Feb. 14, Genie, in collaboration with seven other key stakeholders in the aerial industry, filed a petition with the Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA), the secretariat for the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A92 series of standards, to end the appeals process and publish the standards on March 1, along with a request to reform the appeals process.
