World of Concrete moves from January to June

After discussions with key stakeholders and feedback from industry-leading concrete & masonry associations, World of Concrete made the proactive decision to reschedule WOC 2021 from January to June. The decision to move the dates back several months was not easily reached; however, we felt it was the right choice for all involved. WOC will now take place June 8-10, educational offerings June 7-10, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

McDonnell to Step Down as Chief Commercial Officer of United Rentals

Paul McDonnell will step down as chief commercial officer and leave United Rentals Inc. on Sept. 30. He will continue as an independent advisor for 24 months.

McDonnell’s leadership responsibilities for sales and specialty operations will be absorbed under Dale Asplund, chief operating officer.

Haulotte’s New Headquarters Optimizes Employees’ Quality of Life, Performance

After 17 months of work, the new Haulotte headquarters office, called H3 for Haulotte Higher Headquarters, has welcomed some 350 employees in the town of Lorette in Loire, France.

Alexandre Saubot, chief operating officer, said, “H3 is an important investment that opens a new era in Haulotte’s history. This new step is part of the transformation of our group to provide a head office that reflects its values and strategy.”

New Manitou MLT 420 Telehandler was Designed for Ag, But is Also Good for Construction

Sept. 22, 2020 – Manitou Group, West Bend, Wisconsin, has introduced the new Manitou MLT 420 AG telescopic loader to its extensive MLT product lineup for North America.

Although the MLT 420 was designed for agriculture, Manitou says the model is also excellent for any application where dust is an issue, thanks to its fully enclosed cab and an auto-reversing fan that helps keep the radiator freer of dust during operation.

DICA Rebrands Linton Products as LiftGuard Magnetic Sling Protectors

Sept. 1, 2020 - DICA has rebranded its Linton line of products as LiftGuard magnetic sling protectors.

LiftGuard joined the DICA family of engineered products following the company’s acquisition of Linton Rigging Gear earlier this year.

LiftGuard sling protectors prevent damage to slings caused by contact with sharp or abrasive edges, corners, or protrusions from loads.

They also keep the sling away from other significant contact points during lifting operations.

IPAF Launches Improved Accident-Reporting Portal

The International Powered Access Federation has launched its improved worldwide accident reporting portal as part of a major drive to gather the best quality data from around the world.

IPAF will analyze the data to learn ways the industry can improve powered-access safety.

Magni Telehandler Involved in Wind-Turbine Kite Experiment

Makani started with the idea that kites might be able to harness enough wind energy to give more people around the world access to renewable energy.

By replacing massive steel towers and wind turbines with lightweight hardware and smart software, Makani hoped to unlock access to wind resources that are too expensive or impractical to access with traditional wind technologies.

That insight sparked a 13-year-long adventure of designing, building, and testing that culminated last year in the world’s first offshore flight of an airborne wind turbine.

Three Companies Join SEAA’s Ironworker Training Network

Three companies have newly joined the Steel Erectors Association of America’s network of SEAA/NCCER Ironworker Training Units and Assessment Sites.

Participation in the program grants SEAA member companies access to nationally recognized credentials for ironworkers, crane operators, and rigger/signal persons.

Erection Welding Contractors LLC, Pro Steel Erectors Inc., and Evolution Safety Resources have recently joined SEAA network, bringing the number of participating companies to 27 nationwide.
