Mack Trucks has detailed the driver-focused cab design of its all-new Granite vocational truck, highlighting a range of comfort, control and ride enhancements developed for operators working long shifts in demanding applications.

The next-generation Mack Granite was engineered using customer input, driver clinics and internal refinements to improve the experience inside the cab while supporting productivity and ease of operation.

“Drivers are the heart of every vocational operation, and they are getting harder to find and harder to keep,” said Jonathan Randall, president, Mack Trucks North America. “With the all-new Granite, we set out to build a cab that drivers want to come back to every day. From the additional shoulder room and premium seating options to class-leading steering and ride technologies, every element of this truck reflects our commitment to the men and women behind the wheel.”

The Granite’s redesigned interior includes a wider cab profile and a layout developed with feedback from more than 30 professional drivers through an independent clinic at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Participants evaluated ergonomics, visibility and control placement during the design process.

Several new cab features stemmed directly from driver input. A reinforced accessory rail mounted across the instrument panel can be used to support Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and also functions as a grab bar to assist operators entering and exiting the truck. A built-in metal mounting plate is included for additional screens and monitors.

The updated Granite includes a 12-inch Mack CoPilot digital instrument display with an available nine-inch infotainment screen. Mack said the interface was designed to balance digital functionality with familiar controls for everyday operation.

The truck also features a flat-bottom steering wheel to improve knee clearance, along with steering wheel-mounted controls for cruise control, navigation, lighting and infotainment functions. Mack’s mDRIVE™ Automated Manual Transmission controls are mounted on the steering stalk, allowing operators to manage gear changes while keeping their hands on the wheel.

Additional cab technology includes USB-C charging ports, 12-volt outlets and an available wireless charging option to support connected devices used throughout the day.

Driver comfort was another major focus of the redesign. Mack introduced a new seat frame intended to provide additional support to the back, lumbar area and legs. An available premium air-shock seat offers heating, cooling and massage functions intended to reduce fatigue.

“Vocational drivers are running their trucks through some of the toughest conditions on the road, and the cab is where they spend their day,” said Tim Wrinkle, vice president, product owner, vocational and medium duty at Mack Trucks. “With the all-new Granite, we focused on the details that matter most to drivers – the room to move, the controls in the right place, the seat that supports them through a long shift – and surrounded that environment with the steering, suspension and ride technologies that keep them comfortable and productive from the first job to the last.”

Mack also expanded the availability of Mack Command Steer technology to both axle-forward and axle-back Granite models. The system is designed to reduce steering effort by up to 85% and improve control across vocational applications.

Ride quality is supported by the new MaxRide Air rear suspension system, which features an electronically controlled design with eight tuned airbags intended to improve stability and reduce operator fatigue.

The Granite cab also incorporates durability-focused upgrades, including aluminum door handles, reinforced storage areas and heavy-duty materials designed for repeated jobsite use. Standard Mack ImpactShield windshield technology featuring Corning Fusion5 Glass is intended to improve scratch and impact resistance over the life of the truck.

Mack said the all-new Granite will be available to order in the second half of 2026, with production beginning in January 2027 at the company’s Lehigh Valley Operations facility in Pennsylvania.
