Powered Access-Focused SAF-T Conference Featured Speaker: Brad Boehler

Scheduled to take place alongside the Scaffold & Access Industry Association's Annual Convention on July 24 in Nashville, Tenn., the Safe Access & Fall Protection (SAF-T) Conference will feature some of the top industry experts on access platforms. Brad Boehler, president of Skyjack and chair of the ANSI A92.6 subcommittee, will present "Safe Movement of Equipment on Jobsites," during the one-day powered access-focused SAF-T Conference.

In his presentation, Boehler will explore approaches to achieving safe movement of equipment on construction sites. While the emphasis will be on access platforms, a number of the areas discussed will be applicable to equipment in general. As a starting point, Boehler will present an analysis of accidents and causes of accidents, followed by the subject of risk assessment and common issues to consider and/or avoid. The role of equipment training, fall protection, and secondary guarding systems also will be deliberated. Boehler will draw from his personal experience with powered access equipment, including his background in product safety, his role as president of a major construction equipment manufacturer, and his involvement in standards bodies and in particular, the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF).

Since joining Skyjack in 2003, Boehler has progressively held strategic positions, including the previous titles of vice president of engineering and vice president of sales and marketing for the access platform manufacturer. Prior to joining the company, Boehler obtained his B.Eng. Sc. from the University of Western Ontario, and holds the designation of professional engineer.  He began his career as a military engineer with the Canadian Armed Forces.

In 2006, Boehler was appointed chair of the ANSI A92.6 subcommittee, which is responsible for the U.S. standards on self-propelled elevating work platforms; he remains involved with other global standards development organizations for access platforms, and holds the chair on the IPAF Manufacturers’ Technical Committee.

In 2013, Boehler was elected to the IPAF board of directors. He also recently completed the executive development program at the Ivey School of Business in London as part of his preparations for assuming his current title as president of Skyjack.
