Terex Highlights Innovation, Continuous Improvement at EUFMC 2017 | Construction News

Terex Utilities is showcasing its commitment to continuous improvement and leading innovation at the Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference June 4-7.

“Performance, productivity, and safety are among the top concerns of electric utility fleet managers,” said Joe Caywood, Director of Marketing. “Terex Utilities has responded to customer requests time and again in an effort to provide continuous improvement of our products that are rooted in these three areas of focus.”

One of the ‘firsts’ in the industry is  the Terex® Load Alert™ system, to be displayed on a Terex® Hi-Ranger™ SCM 55 aerial device. Load Alert monitors and analyzes the truck’s jib and basket capacity and provides visible and audible alarms when an overload has been detected to aid users to support their safe work practices.

“Introduced in April 2016, Load Alert has been well received by the industry, with one major customer ordering this feature on every Terex Hi-Ranger™ aerial device,” added Caywood.

Another innovative solution from Terex is the HyPower™ IM system, which will be shown on a Hi-Ranger LT40 telescopic aerial device. This idle mitigation and cab comfort system reduces fuel usage and exhaust emissions at a lower price point than other hybrid systems. Terex was named one of America’s best corporate citizens by Forbes Magazine’s JUST 100 list in 2016, in part for the hybrid technologies Terex Utilities has developed.

Legacy of Innovative, Quality Products
“In carrying out our legacy of innovative, high quality products, we are excited to introduce the latest enhancement, our Optima TC 55 aerial device; featuring lower travel height, better ground access, and improved boom speeds,” said Caywood.

The Optima TC55 is a 55-ft non-overcenter aerial with up to 42.8 ft of side reach. That’s three feet longer than the legacy model which helps with truck positioning at the jobsite. Increased boom speeds and responsiveness also help to increase productivity on the job. Additionally, the platform can be lowered near the ground, making it easier for operators to access and handle tools and equipment passed from the ground crew.

Fleet managers regularly request reliable equipment with maximum uptime. To that end, Terex reduced and simplified maintenance on the Optima TC55. A new pedestal design allows for easier access for torqueing lower rotation bearing bolts. O-ring face seals allow for improved hydraulic connections and are used on hoses and fittings above rotation.

“EUFMC provides electric utility fleet managers with a forum to discuss the issues affecting them and to cooperatively seek solutions. Since the first meeting in 1953, Terex Utilities has been proud to support those efforts through product innovations, many of which were introduced to the industry at past EUFMC events,” said Caywood.
