Ritchie Bros. Brings in $57M at Texas Equipment Auction

Ritchie Bros. sold more than 3,750 pieces of equipment at its first Fort Worth, Texas, auction of the year. The two-day auction totaled more than $57 million.  

More than 5,200 people from 62 countries registered to bid in the auction, held March 13-14. More than 3,800 of them registered to bid online.

U.S. buyers purchased 91% of the equipment, including 48% purchased by Texas buyers. International buyers from countries such as Mexico, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates purchased 9% of the equipment. Online buyers purchased 57%.  

IPAF Membership Grows, IAPA Winners Announced

The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) saw membership rise 6.6% in 2017, according to its annual report released at the association’s event attended by more than 300 in Miami last week, where the winners of the 2017 International Awards for Powered Access (IAPAs) were also announced.

The Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference (EUFMC) announced it will feature former MLB pitcher Jim Abbott as a guest speaker at its 2018 event.

The conference, which will mark its 65th year, will be held June 3-6 in Williamsburg, Va., at the Williamsburg Lodge and Conference Center.

Franklin Equipment announces another store opening in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. (237 N. Washburn Street Oshkosh, WI 54904.) This new location expands Franklin Equipment’s regional coverage from stores in Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Tennessee and Kentucky. The board of directors of Manitou BF, meeting on March 6, 2018 closed the accounts for 2017. Michel Denis, President and Chief Executive Officer stated: “The group closed the financial year 2017 with a +19% rise in revenues, having also strengthened our sales positions, expanded our operations outside France with the acquisition of two entities in India and Australia and lastly, having improved further our financial profitability. Attendance at The Rental Show 2018 Reflects Positive Outlook for Rental Industry

The positive forecast for steady growth in equipment rental revenue was reflected on a busy trade show floor at The Rental Show® 2018 in New Orleans, as well as in the numbers of attendees and exhibitor personnel that were at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center from Feb. 18-21.

The total number of attendees at The Rental Show was 6,047, with 2,657 rental businesses represented. When combined with exhibitor personnel, total attendance for 2018 was 12,066.
