ARA Addresses Skilled Labor Shortage with ARARentalWorks

In the midst of a significant skilled labor shortage impacting the entire U.S., the American Rental Association (ARA) hosted ARARentalWorks Day on Feb. 12 at The ARA Show in Orlando, Florida.

The event at the Orange County Convention Center educated hundreds of local trade and technical students about service technician careers in the rental industry — a fast-growing, dynamic, and environmentally friendly sector.

AEM Assists in Developing Global Standard for Worksite Interoperability

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), along with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), has created an ISO Working Group, composed of several AEM members, that is in the process of developing a global standard for worksite interoperability.

Genie, JLG Sign ANSI A92 Petition to End Appeals

On Friday, Feb. 14, Genie, in collaboration with seven other key stakeholders in the aerial industry, filed a petition with the Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA), the secretariat for the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A92 series of standards, to end the appeals process and publish the standards on March 1, along with a request to reform the appeals process.

JLG Expands Scissor, Boom Lift Portfolios at 2020 ARA Show

JLG Industries Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company and global manufacturer of MEWPs and telehandlers, announced the expansion of its scissor lift line, as well as new boom lifts, at the ARA Show in Orlando, Florida.

The new scissor models will be among the first to feature the new JLG scissor nomenclature and decal design updates, with changes to remaining models phased in throughout 2020 and into early 2021.

New ANSI A92 MEWP Appeals to Delay Standards Further

Two new appeals of the ANSI A92 MEWP standards have jeopardized the March 1 effective date. 

According to DeAnna Martin, executive director and ANSI liaison of the Scaffold & Access Industry Association, which serves as the secretariat for the A92 standards,  two appeal hearings must now be conducted. These two appeals are in addition to the previously filed appeals from the American Rental Association (ARA) and Tutus Solutions. Martin said the committee must also respond to two supplement appeals from those organizations by Feb. 4.

Attendees can now register for the 67th annual Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference on May 31-June 3 at the Williamsburg Lodge and Conference Center in Williamsburg, Virginia.

The conference will include:
