Bosch Rexroth to Acquire Fluid Filter Manufacturer

Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Bosch Rexroth plans to acquire K. & H. Eppensteiner, the hydraulics equipment company based in Ketsch, Germany. A purchase agreement was signed on March 31, 2008. The acquisition is subject to approval by antitrust authorities; terms of the acquisition will not be disclosed.

Eppensteiner develops, manufactures, and sells fluid filters for installation in hydraulic and lubrication oil systems. Its product portfolio also includes complete systems for purifying and recycling hydraulic and lubrication oil. The acquisition will expand Bosch Rexroth's product portfolio to include fluid filter accessory components, enabling the company to extend its offering of service and retrofitting capabilities.

“Adding Eppensteiner to Bosch Rexroth will help us expand our product line in hydraulic accessory components, both for mobile and industrial applications,” said Berend Bracht, president and CEO of Bosch Rexroth in North America. “Fluid filters are an important addition to Rexroth's strategy for growing our hydraulic system, service and retrofitting business.”

Bosch Rexroth AG, part of the Bosch Group, achieved sales of approximately $6.2 billion in 2006 with over 29,800 employees. Under the brand name of Rexroth the company offers all drive and control technologies, from mechanics, hydraulics and pneumatics to electronics and associated service.
