Comment Period for Crane Rule Extended

After a four-day public hearing last month to receive testimony and documentary evidence on the proposed rule for Cranes and Derricks in Construction (29 CFR part 1926, subpart CC), which published on Oct. 9, 2008, the U.S. Department of Labor has established a posthearing comment period for participants who filed a notice of intention to appear.

Part one of the comment period, which commenced at the close of the hearing on March 20, allows for the submission of additional information and data relevant to the proposed crane rule. Submissions for the first part may be made through May 19. The second part of the comment period allows for submission of final written comments, arguments, summations, and briefs. Those materials are due June 18.
