Gehl Adds Compact Telehandler to RS Series

In order to meet the growing needs of contractors, builders, and rental firms, Gehl Co., West Bend, Wis., has added the 5,000-pound capacity model RS5-19 compact telescopic handler to its RS Series product line. The RS5-19 is a low profile machine with an overall height of 6'4” and a tight turning radius of 11 feet, allowing for operation within buildings, under parking garages, and in confined areas. Featuring the same welded box-section design as the Gehl Dynalift and RS Series telescopic handlers, the RS5-19's boom reaches a maximum lift height of 19'1”.

This compact telehandler is powered by a 64-hp turbocharged water-cooled Deutz diesel engine. Engine accessibility is made simple with a large, hinged hood on the side of the machine. The hood lifts fully out of the way, allowing plenty of room to access maintenance points, including the battery and oil fill. Underneath the unit, Gehl has added a bolted belly pan to protect all engine and hydraulic components. A hinged access door provides easy access to the engine oil drain.

A two-speed hydrostatic transmission with inching valve, three selectable steering modes, and an auxiliary hydraulic system with an inch valve are all standard on the RS5-19.

Hydraulic flow up to 22 gpm provides excellent hydraulic performance. Optional auxiliary lines are available to power a variety of available attachments, including truss booms, jib booms, buckets, and multiple types of carriages and forks. The Dynattach Quick-Attach System allows for quick attachment changes. Hydraulic hoses are routed inside the boom to protect them from jobsite hazards.

For better stopping capability and longer life, internal wet disc service brakes are standard equipment. A spring-applied, hydraulically released (SAHR) parking brake is automatically applied when the engine is shut off, or it can applied manually by pressing a rocker switch. This design eliminates the cable stretch and adjustments associated with many other telescopic handlers.

View from the RS5-19's ROPS/FOPS canopy is a full 360 degrees. An enclosed cab is optional with front and top windows, a door, and a heater/defroster. Two direct mechanical joystick controls for boom and fork tilt functions are standard. Optional equipment includes a deluxe suspension seat and a work light package.
