Hertz Equipment Rental (HERC) has opened a full-service rental center in downtown Chicago.

The branch office at 2424 S. Wabash in the city’s South Loop has 27,000 sq. ft. under roof and encompasses 1.6 acres, including the yard.

It joins three other HERC rental locations in metropolitan Chicago. The company also has two on-site operations at local industries.

The new downtown HERC rental store presently carries a full range of equipment, ranging from the company’s new ProContractor Tools lineup up through large construction and industrial equipment, including aerial lifts and telehandlers.

The ProContractor Tools lineup includes everything from hand tools to specialized equipment, including air compressors, air tools, climate control, compaction, concrete and masonry, electric, and demolition tools, floor surface prep, lighting, material handling, plumbing, portable power, pressure washers, pumps, trailers, and many more categories.

Though it is located close to the action for easy will-call pick-up rentals, the downtown HERC branch also will deliver equipment to jobsites.

Though it has other outlets in Chicago, HERC decided to add the downtown store because it knew our customers would respond favorably to another strategically situated location that also carried an expanded range of products.

“Fundamentally,” said a HERC representative, “our customers needed another resource, within the city limits, to support their projects.”

The company timed the new store’s opening so it would be ready to serve the busiest season for commercial construction.

The new HERC location in downtown Chicago is one of about 270 HERC stores in North America.
