OSHA Investigating Crane Boom Collapse in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. | Daily Construction News

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—No one was injured when a crawler crane’s lattice boom bent over backwards and collapsed at a hotel construction site. A witness said the more-than-100-ft. boom slowly bent backwards and kept bending until it lay back across the top of the crane and its tip touched the ground. A second crane was brought in to remove the broken boom. The crane was rented by a subcontractor working on the site. A spokesman for the project’s general contractor said that the crane was up to date on inspections, its operator was licensed, and all procedures had been followed. Federal OSHA is investigating. – www.saratogian.com
