Oilfield services provider 5J Trucking, Palestine, Texas, used a pair of 50- and 100-ton crawler cranes from Sany, Peachtree City, Ga., in October to perform a twin lift in the Texas Permian Basin. The successful pick required lifting the 142-foot, 90,000-pound derrick on a Pioneer 14 oil rig.
“Every rig we move weighs a million pounds or more, and every piece of equipment we have needs to operate in the tough demands of the oil and gas fields,” said Marty Benton, assistant terminal manager with 5J’s West Texas Division. “The 50- and 100-ton crawlers worked perfectly in tandem with each other. These are very strong machines and we can tell they were made for this kind of work.”
In addition to the 100-ton SCC8100, Sany’s 8000 series crawler cranes include clean-sheet 200- and 300-ton models.
