Skyjack Finalizes Acquisition of Ingersoll Rand-Brand Forklifts

Skyjack Inc., Guelph, Ontario, announced it has finalized the purchase agreement with Volvo Construction Equipment and has acquired its material handlers. In March, Skyjack's parent company Linamar said it had an interest in acquiring the Ingersoll Rand brand telehandlers and straight mast forklifts from Volvo CE and entered into discussions related to purchasing selected assets of Volvo's Material Handling Equipment business.

Skyjack's interest in the Volvo MHE business complements the acquisition of Carelift Equipment, which was completed in August 2007. This acquisition further expands Skyjack's telehandler line and adds a rough-terrain straight mast forklift to its product offerings.

“We are very pleased to see the acquisition come to completion,” said Ken McDougall, president of Skyjack. “Over the next several months, Skyjack will continue to work closely with the existing dealer networks with a commitment from Volvo to assist us during the transition period.” He adds that Skyjack will quickly move the assets from their current location in Shippensburg, Pa., to an undetermined site in order to bring production online as soon as possible.
