Two painters died Wednesday, January 22, when the self-propelled boom lift they were using toppled over while they were about three stories above ground. Investigators believe it may have tipped over because it had been parked on a slope rather than flat ground.
A spokesman from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said that the two men were contractors who were painting the side of a building at the Lower Buckeye Jail. The spokesman said that inmates in the recreational yard saw the accident.
Paramedics took both men to a hospital, but both victims died of their injuries.
