United Rentals, Greenwich, Conn., today announced that its Government Solutions business has been awarded state purchasing contracts in Texas and Massachusetts. In Massachusetts, United Rentals has won a sole-source equipment rental contract through 2012, with an optional extension. The contract is available for use by all executive agencies in the commonwealth.
In Texas, United Rentals won a shared contract for equipment rentals provided through 2012 and administered via the state's Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC), a nationwide purchasing cooperative available to all units of local government and non-profits. The renewable H-GAC contract expands the presence of United Rentals Government Solutions in Texas, where the company has held a Texas Multiple Award Schedule (TXMAS) contract since 2007.
"We are extremely pleased to have been selected to perform under these two contracts, which give us an opportunity to strengthen our existing relationships with state and local governments and expand the range of agencies we support,” said Robert Caudle, director of government solutions for United Rentals. “We place a high value on these partnerships and are prepared to serve them with an expert understanding of government needs."

United Rentals, which offers approximately 3,000 classes of construction and industrial equipment for rent, currently provides support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other federal entities, and all branches of the military. The company has more than 580 locations in the United States and Canada, including the largest network of trench safety operations in North America.
