When Crane Tips, Suspended Section of House Crushes Boat | Construction News

A mini sinkhole caused a modular home being set onto pilings to topple and crush a boat on an adjacent lot in Marathon, Fla. A truck crane was swinging half of the three-bedroom, two-bath house into place, when a pad stabilizing the crane gave way because of the roughly 5-ft.-deep patch of loose soil.

The sinkhole caused the section house to topple to the left and fall on top of a boat stored on an adjacent dry lot. No one was hurt in the incident. A witness said that despite the ground under the crane giving way, the operator handled the section of house gently. "They put it down really easy,” he said. “It wasn't like a drop; it was all in slow motion. The crane operator did as best he could." – www.miamiherald.com
