ANSI to Hear Two Appeals Asking for Withdrawal of New A92 Standards for MEWPs

The ANSI Board of Standards Review (BSR) will hear two appeals of the approval of the new A92 standards for MEWPs on May 7 in New York City, asking for the withdrawal of the standards published in December 2018.

At a dinner held in their honor, Lift and Access magazine celebrated the winners of the 2018 Leadership in Lifting Equipment and Aerial Platforms (LLEAP) awards and distributed the trophies for the two top-ranked innovative products in five categories on Feb. 17 to kick off the ARA Show in Anaheim, California.

Genie Introduces Micro Scissor Lift, Boom Lift Access Deck

Genie GS-1330m scissor lift

Genie unveiled the compact GS-1330m scissor lift along with other new products and technologies at the 2019 ARA Show in Anaheim, California.

The GS-1330m scissor lift offers a maximum platform height of 12.8 ft., a maximum working height of 18.8 ft., a two-person, 500-lb. capacity, and weighs only 1,950 lbs.

The company also added the Lift Tools Access Deck for Z articulating booms, S telescopic booms, and GS-1930 scissor lifts, providing operators with a secondary surface to work from.

United Rentals to Make Leadership Changes

United Rentals Inc., the world’s largest equipment rental company, announced its board of directors has appointed Matthew Flannery, current president and chief operating officer, to become its new CEO, while retaining the role as president.

Additionally, the board has appointed Michael Kneeland, the current CEO, to become non-executive chairman. Bobby Griffin, a 10-year member of the board and chairman of the Strategy Committee, will become lead independent director.

ARA Introduces Strategic Plan for Equipment Rental Industry

The American Rental Association (ARA) released a new industry-wide strategic plan that will drive program initiatives over the next three years to better support the success of its members and advance the equipment rental industry.

This is the first revision to ARA’s strategic plan in more than a decade.

The ARA board of directors met for a two-day session led by a professional facilitator to discuss common issues within the industry in order to develop action plans.


The Ryze SBL (Scissor and Boom Lift) Simulator is intended to supplement actual equipment training by offering a safe, blended learning solution. The virtual reality (VR) software consists of 33 training scenarios, including three 20-minute practical evaluations that meet industry requirements for boom lifts, slab lifts, and diesel rough-terrain scissor lifts. The simulator allows the operator to attempt IPAF and ANSI training requirements in a dynamic environment without risk of physical harm.

JLG Adds Bolt-On Fall Arrest System for Boom Lifts

JLG Industries Inc. is offering a new bolt-on system to help operators move safely outside the platform of its boom lifts.

This feature allows an occupant to exit the platform at height and step onto adjacent structures while being tied off to an approved lanyard anchor point on the platform. The Bolt-On Fall Arrest System consists of two large steel brackets securing a 6-ft. cable with a ring that can move from one end of the cable to the other. Attaching the lanyard to the ring improves maneuverability and allows the operator to perform tasks outside of the platform.

Test Out New Dinolift 92RXT Boom Lift at RBG Event

RAYMOND, N.H. – RBG will host a demo event Sept. 7-8 at its New Hampshire facility for the new Dinolift 92RXT boom lift, which just arrived in North America.

The open house will allow attendees to get their hands on the new 4x4 lightweight self-propelled unit, and RBG will have their own factory-trained technicians there, as well as Dinolift engineers and technicians, to answer any questions about the machine.

Xtreme, Snorkel Name New Chief Manufacturing Officer

HENDERSON, Nev. - Xtreme Manufacturing and Snorkel promoted John Gill to the newly created role of chief manufacturing officer (CMO).

Gill will provide direction at an executive level overseeing all manufacturing operations. He will report directly to Xtreme Manufacturing & Snorkel CEO Matthew Elvin.

Previously, Gill served as director of manufacturing operations based at the Snorkel facility in the U.K., after joining the business in November 2016.
