A Maeda mini-crane recently helped move materials beyond a tower crane's reach. On an addition to the St. David’s Medical Facility in Austin, Texas, the tower crane couldn’t access the farthest corner of the structure. The stage steel beams, the tower crane hoisted a Maeda MC 285 mini-crane to the roof. Erectors found the mini-crane was much faster at assembling the steel because of its close proximity and precise placement.

Superior Scaffold Takes Painting Crews Above the Boardwalk

Bally’s Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City turned to Superior Scaffold to get painting crews up to the high end of one of their buildings on the boardwalk. Crews needed to reach the top of the building above the world famous Harry’s Oyster Bar and Sea Food restaurant to finish painting and refinishing.

Scaffold Builder Rodeo Kicks Off at SAIA Annual Convention

On July 28, the Inaugural Scaffold Builder Rodeo took place during the 2014 SAIA Convention in Austin, Texas. During the competition, teams competed to build and disassemble a scaffolding structure with the fastest time, focusing on safety and efficiency.

The competition began at noon with over 50 people in attendance.  This year’s participants included four teams of four builders each. Teams were presented a set of scaffold drawings 10 minutes prior to starting. They had one hour to build a duplicate of the structure shown in the drawings in accordance with OSHA standards.

Shoring Project Challenges Superior Scaffold Crews

Superior Scaffold was called into the Kaiserman Jewish Community Center to help shore up the ceiling joists so crews could repair the support brackets up against wall surrounding the indoor swimming pool. Challenging the project was that a scissor lift had to get in behind the scaffolding so crews could get to the brackets for the repairs. The second challenge was the water.

The Lift and Access Showcase returns in 2014 on Oct. 29-30 at the Springhill Suites by Marriott at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This event is unlike any other in the lifting equipment industry. OEMs will demonstrate their products and discuss their features and benefits. Products may be tested to validate the specifications against their printed literature, and their performance may be measured against other machines in the product class.
