Chicago Cubs fans got a blast from the past this summer when the marquee at the Illinois baseball team’s home stadium was painted green and gold to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Benjamin Moore used three Skyjack machines to repaint the iconic marquee back its original green-and-gold colors when the sign was first installed in 1934.

Painters used two SJ 6832RT scissor lifts and a SJ 66T boom lift to reach the giant marquee as they painted it Mallard Green and French Quarter Gold.

I’m proud to recently have earned a PAL card, verifying that I’ve been trained to operate scissor and boom lifts safely. I’m not likely to work in an aerial lift often, but I will get the chance to run one in order to evaluate how it operates, position it for an event, or reach a work site while researching an article.

Features on Skyjack’s most recent introduction focus on assets for rental companies and operators.

Combining a working height of 69'7" (21.2 m), a horizontal reach of 40' (12.2 m), and an up and over clearance of 27'6" (8.4 m), Skyjack's SJ63 AJ articulating boom lift is designed for versatility. Superior positive traction and terrainability is provided by the axle-based 4WD used in many of Skyjack's powered access product designs, which accounts for a proven low maintenance, rugged, and reliable drive train. 360 degree turret rotation and zero tail swing allow for flexible operation of this boom lift in tight locations.
