Skyjack will Roll Out 12K Telehandler, 85-ft. Boom Lift Early in 2017 | Construction News

Skyjack will roll out a new 12,000-lb.-capacity telehandler and a new 85-ft. articulating boom lift early in 2017.

The company will showcase a prototype SJ1256 TH telehandler at all three major North American trade shows: World of Concrete, Jan. 17-20 in Las Vegas; The Rental Show, Feb. 26 – Mar. 1 in Orlando; and Conexpo, Mar. 7-11 in Las Vegas.

SJ1256 TH 12,000-lb. telehandler

The new 12,000-lb.-capacity, 56-ft.-lifting-height telehandler will be the newest and, to date, largest model in Skyjack’s TH Series of telehandlers introduced early last year. It features a 107-hp Deutz TCD3.6-liter diesel engine that complies with Tier 4 Final standards by using selective catalytic reduction and DEF fluid, but no diesel particulate filter (DPF).

The new model is based heavily on the successful 10,000-lb.-capacity SJ1056 TH and aims to bring class-leading lifting capacity to the 12,000-lb. segment of the telehandler market.

The SJ1256 TH offers Skyjack’s “simple and reliable” design, and is equipped with the company’s SkyCoded control system; the Flexcab, which can be switched easily and quickly from open to enclosed, or vice versa, with simple hand tools; and the Readyhook yoke-mounted hook for handling full-capacity suspended loads.

The SJ1256 TH also shares control systems, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic layout with the rest of the TH family of telehandlers, ensuring instant familiarization for operators who operate other TH models.

SJ85 AJ 85-ft. articulating boom lift

Another star of Skyjack’s trade-show exhibits early in 2017 will be the SJ85 AJ, an 85-ft. articulating boom lift that is the newest addition to its growing line-up.

Skyjack will roll out the SJ85 AJ both at the American Rental Association’s The Rental Show in Orlando, Feb. 26 – Mar. 1, and at Conexpo in Las Vegas, Mar. 7-11.

Following the successful launch of the SJ86 T telescopic boom in 2015, the SJ85 AJ will complete Skyjack’s boom line-up in the core 40-ft., 60-ft., and 80-ft. boom-lift classes.

The SJ85 AJ’s key features include 85-ft. platform height, 56-ft. horizontal reach, 34-ft. up-and-over clearance, 750/500-lb. dual capacity, and two- to 3-person platform rating.

Indicator lights on the upper and lower controls show the applicable working zone and platform capacities.

The SJ85 AJ’s center-knuckle riser is similar to the proven design used on the SJ86T. It lets the machine stow compactly; minimizes tailswing; and delivers fast operation, raising the platform from ground to maximum height in about 60 seconds.

The SJ85 AJ’s key Skyjack trademarked features include: SkyRiser, which delivers true vertical rise without drifting; SpeedyReach, which lowers the boom to ground level for re-stocking without lowering the riser; the SkyCoded relay-based, color-coded, and numbered control system; the AxleDrive axle-based drive system for excellent rough terrain traction; and EasyDrive direction-sensing drive and steering controls that always operate the same, regardless of turret position over chassis.

In addition, the SJ85 AJ incorporates design concepts proven on other Skyjack products, such as use of common off-the-shelf parts, well-protected components; and easy access to serviceable components.

The unit will be available for sale in North America in Q2 2017.
