Star Industries Develops Spreader Bars for Forklifts | Construction News

Star Industries has introduced two fixed-length spreader beams that can each handle long beams, sheet metal, roofing, siding, and other long material that tends to bend.

Designed for use with telehandlers or vertical-mast forklifts, the spreaders have pockets that fit forks up to 7 in. wide by 2½ in. thick. An optional crane picking plate lets either one also be suspended from a crane.

The model 1140 is 6 ft. long, weighs 360 lbs., and can lift 10,000 lbs. whether using one, two, or three hooks.

The model 1149 is 7 ft. long, weighs 1,090 lbs., and can lift 34,000 lbs. with its two end hooks or 20,000 lbs. with only its center hook.

Both spreaders were on display in Star Industries' exhibit at the American Rental Association's The Rental Show in New Orleans during late February.
