JLG Industries Inc. announced its new telehandler reconditioning program at ConExpo the first week in March. The telehandler program, which is an extension of JLG's current reconditioning program for combustion booms ranging from the 40-ft. class to the JLG Ultra Boom, tackled the G10 telehandler first, based on customer demand.

Todd Earley, JLG Industrial sales manager, used equipment, JLG Ground Support says that the company's program is one of the most comprehensive in the industry, citing its strict OEM guidelines for reconditioning. Each machine that undergoes process is blasted, removing the existing layer of paint to take it down to the bare metal and then primed and repainted, resulting in a better quality paint job. Additionally, the company takes meticulous care in inspecting, replacing, and rebuilding components, such as the engine, boom pads, hoses, and chains as well as the cab, according to Brian Boeckman, JLG Industries global product director -- telehandlers.

“Our customers expect the same quality from a reconditioned asset as they get from a new machine.  Our scope of work is very detailed, and our reconditioning program is very similar to our new manufacturing program.  In the end, customers receive a machine that has the same reliability as a new machine," confirmed Earley.

Earley that in the past 12 to 18 months they've seen an increase in demand for reconditioned equipment as JLG customers seek to balance out their fleets. With that in mind the company is extending the program to include customer-owned and stock equipment.

The warranty for the reconditioned assets has been extended to a year. JLG reconditioning centers are located in Bedford, Penn., Texas, and Riverside, Calif. with Bedford being the largest of the facilities.
