Socage Debuts 218-Ft. Forste 230TJJ at ICUEE| Powered Access

The first Forste 230TJJ delivered to North America from Italian manufacturer Socage dominated the ICUEE booth manned by distributor Truck Utilities Inc. The 230TJJ is a 218-ft. truck-mounted aerial that can lift 1,320 lbs. to its maximum platform height and can also provide up to 100 ft. of horizontal outreach. The unit at the show was mounted on a longer, seven-axle Freightliner chassis, measured 41’6” long overall, and weighed 75,500 lbs. It can travel without a permit in the 44 states that recognize lift axles, and meets the roading regulations of 48 states. It needs no federal bridge permit. The lift is powered by a separate diesel engine that is quieter and more fuel efficient than having the truck engine idling on a jobsite. The single-beam outriggers have a maximum spread of 20 ft. so the rig requires one less row of mats than most large truck-mounted aerial lifts when working on soft ground.  It is equipped with a CANbus control system that provides smooth operation and whose ramping can be adjusted by a set-up procedure.
