MEC Leak Containment System Granted Patents for U.S., Europe, and Canada

Patent awards have been granted for MEC Aerial Work Platforms’ leak containment system for the United States (Patent No. 11,112,060), Europe (Patent No. 3,437,962), and Canada (Patent No. 3,021,925).

With those patents, the LCS is now officially recognized in North America and across Europe as a highly innovative solution for protecting sensitive floor applications from potential hydraulic leaks without interfering with the safety-related features of the machinery.

“This hat-trick of patent awards in the United States, Europe, and Canada formally acknowledges MEC’s industry-changing innovation. We have heard from customers around the world and appreciate that they won’t settle for any of the lesser options which have started to enter the marketplace,” said Gary Crook, MEC vice president of engineering.

LCS is a revolutionary oil containment system for MEC slab scissor lifts and vertical mast lifts using a system of trays integrated within the machine. The leak retention mechanism of LCS does not interfere with other basic functionalities of the device – including deployment of the machine’s pothole protection system, front wheel operations, emergency stop access, ground controls, and/or operation of the static strap.

In addition, the integrated trays are protected from weather elements, job site debris, and forklift damage.

Since the launch of LCS in 2019, MEC customers have quickly realized the tremendous value and advantages of this innovative feature. Through its sleek design, strategically placed inspection ports, and easily placed pre-cut absorbent pads, MEC’s LCS has been the first to deliver industry-leading leak detection and containment, providing greater job site efficiency.
