Genie to Offer Online Training with Equipment Sold at Rental Show | Construction News

Aerial lift and telehandler manufacturer Terex AWP plans to give away a gift card good for one seat of Genie Lift Pro online operator training with each Genie aerial lift or telehandler product bought at the American Rental Association’s The Rental Show in New Orleans, La. The show’s exhibition floor will be open from February 23-25, 2015.

The offer is a one-time special for buyers who purchase Genie equipment at the show. For each piece of Genie equipment purchased, Terex AWP will offer the buyer a gift card good for one seat at Genie’s Lift Pro online operator training.

The gift card promotion is designed to make administration of the online operator training program as simple as possible. It will let the Genie dealer simply hand the Genie Lift Pro gift card directly to the person who requires training, so the trainee can then self-register, eliminating the set-up administration at the dealership branch. Each Genie Lift Pro gift card contains a unique one-time enrollment code for online self-registration.

When the trainee has successfully completed the online training, the Genie dealer can verify the result by using the trainee’s contact information.

Aspiring operator trainees normally purchase seats for online training through Genie dealers. The seats carry a recommended retail price of $299.

Scott Owyen, Terex AWP training manager said, “The Genie online operator training program was launched in February 2013 and was the first online aerial operator training platform. Since that time, thousands of operators have been trained using the online platform, administered directly through our dealer network.”

Owyen added, “This limited-time offer will allow this network to further increase the quantity of operators they can train without any undue impact on their branch administration teams. This is because the ARA special gift card format enables the end-user to self-register, cutting out any set-up administration for the branch.”

According to Owyen, the gift cards given away at The Rental Show will not have an expiration date, so trainees can take the online training when it’s convenient for them.

To complete Genie Lift Pro training, the operator must demonstrate hands-on proficiency by operating the aerial work platform in front of a qualified trainer.

Only such a qualified person at the trainee’s organization or rental provider can assess the trainee’s hands-on capability and approve him or her as qualified.

Owyen said that Genie Lift Pro online operator training classes meets the ANSI, ANSI/ITSDF, CSA and OSHA requirements for general operator training for entities that do not employ a dedicated operator-training professional, or where demand exceeds the trainer’s capacity. The Genie Lift Pro online training is not Genie-specific. It also applies to operators of most aerial or telehandler brands, makes, and models.

He also noted that before operating a new model of aerial or telehandler equipment, an operator should always refer to the appropriate operator’s manual and receive model specific familiarization training.

The Terex AWP/Genie booth at The Rental Show is 8235.
