SolidBoss Rolls Out Non-Marking Telehandler Tire | Construction News

Tiremaker SolidBoss has introduced a solid-rubber, non-marking tire for telehandlers, aerial work platforms, and skid-steer loaders.

SolidBoss’ patented design resists cuts and tears, eliminates bounce, and cushions the ride with apertures
in the tire. It comes in regular width or a narrow version that is just 11 in. wide to help reduce overall machine width.

The company rolled out the new tire at the American Rental Association's The Rental Show in New Orleans during late February.

The SolidBoss exhibit also displayed what the company believes is the first solid-rubber tire to have apertures. The tire was mounted on a spoked wooden wheel, and the display included the patent application for the old tire, submitted by the Kuhlke Machine Co. of Akron, Ohio, in March 1927.

The application sought to patent a solid tire with cushioning properties that "are increased by the presence
of cavities or holes in and through the tire body.”
