Custom Equipment Unveils Improvements to Push-Around Scissor Lift

Custom Equipment Inc., Richfield, Wis., recently unveiled several improvements to its Hy-Brid HB-P830, a push-around scissor lift with 8-ft. maximum platform height.

The lift manufacturer recently displayed the improved lift at the Lift and Access Showcase & Symposium in Davenport, Fla. One of the major changes is reduced weight, which has been cut from 763 lb. to 680 lb., a reduction of 83 lb. or nearly 11 percent. Even though it’s lighter, the updated Hy-Brid HB-P830 has retained its full 500-lb. platform capacity. The reduction in overall weight has cut the machine’s maximum floor loading to just 131.72 psf and reduced its maximum wheel load to 36.88 psi.

Another major improvement provides better visibility. “We’ve changed the railings to give users better visibility while they are pushing the lift,” says Justin Kissinger, Custom Equipment’s director of marketing.

In addition, the rear caster locks have been upgraded to total-lock brakes that not only keep the wheels from rolling, but also prevent the casters from swiveling.

Other upgrades include built-in fork pockets that make it easier to handle the machine with a forklift, and a slide-out tray that makes it easy to access the single 12V battery, the hydraulic pump, and controls for maintenance.

The HB-P830’s performance remains the same. Its inside turning radius is still zero and outside turning radius remains 45.3 in. It still raises the platform to full height in 16 seconds. Its other features include descent and tilt alarms, emergency stops, remote raising and lowering, key-operated on/off switch, and integrated battery charger, and optional 110V power to the platform.
