Genie Launches E-Drive on GS Slab Scissors

Genie has launched its new E-Drive system, an optimized AC electric drive system available across its entire line of GS slab scissor lifts.

Commercial and residential contractors, rental owners, and retail users who want to reduce total cost of ownership will find that the new E-Drive GS scissor lifts deliver increased run time, reduced maintenance costs, and industry-leading performance.

In addition, E-Drive’s quiet, emission-free AC electric motors give contractors a green solution for customers and jobs that require eco-friendly equipment.

High-gauge steel guards and higher ground clearance let E-Drive GS scissor lifts perform well on the most demanding jobsites. The new E-Drive motors are brushless and fully sealed against moisture and water for long maintenance-free life. To drastically reduce potential for hydraulic leaks, the new GS E-Drive lifts have 70% fewer hydraulic hoses and fittings.

“Owners also will find they spend less on batteries over the life of the lift due to longer runtime per charge and fewer lifetime charge cycles,” says Michael Flanagan, Genie product manager.

Based on industry-standard Hird-cycle testing, E-Drive scissor lifts show a 30% increase in runtime per charge, with up to a 20% reduction in lifetime battery costs.

Real-world 25% gradeability plus two times the tire tread depth of previous designs give E-Drive scissors the torque and traction to climb dovetail ramps, even if one wheel slips.

“A 14° breakover angle enables these scissor lifts to crest the top of the ramp without bottoming out. That eliminates the need to winch machines onto trailers or raise dovetails after partial loading,” says Flanagan.

Also, new forklift pockets on the sides of the chassis, in addition to the industry-standard rear pockets, allow more options for loading and unloading the lift from the transport vehicle.

Flanagan adds, “Our largest GS models benefit significantly from the gradeability and runtime improvements that E-Drive offers. In addition, E-Drive enabled a reduction in machine width for one model in our lineup, the GS-4047. Launched in 2014, the GS-4047 was 47 in. wide to accommodate the hydraulic brakes. With the E-Drive redesign, this model is now a more compact 46 in. wide, consistent with the rest of our large slab scissor lift family.” As a result of this change, the new nomenclature is GS-4046. The newly named GS-4046, like other scissor lifts in our product family, is compatible with E-Drive scissor lift accessories.

Genie’s small scissor lifts, including the Genie GS-1530, GS-1532, GS-1930, GS-1932, GS-2032, and GS-2632, are also available in hydraulic version.
