Haulotte Introduces Telematics Solution

Haulotte Introduces Telematics Solution

Haulotte announced the launch of its own telematics solution, based on customer requests for valuable and accurate data. The solution improves fleet management by preparing for technical call-outs, identifying on-site unsafe behaviors, and proactively managing energy.

The SHERPAL fleet management system provides rental companies, equipment owners, and service managers actionable insights to make the right decisions at the right time. It offers remote access to machine data and gives a consolidated overview of the status of all assets, regardless of the size of the aerial equipment fleet.

SHERPAL is designed to manage aerial fleets more efficiently. It delivers focused and meaningful data to be more productive, secure day-to-day operations, and grow business. Connecting machines with SHERPAL telematics solutions increases equipment uptime and utilization rates while reducing operating costs.

SHERPAL uses an on-board GPS system to instantly locate machines in the field. The interactive map allows customers to track a specific asset or get an overview of the entire fleet. As the SHERPAL device constantly monitors what is happening on the machine’s CAN bus communication network, it can intercept and transmit a wide range of data. It also displays crucial information to remotely perform an efficient and advanced diagnostic, including real-time operational status with simple color code; hour meter and next maintenance deadlines for a list of machines; engine and battery status; and fault codes, root causes, and instructions on how to fix problems.

Telematics data enables quick and responsive customer support, ensuring more effective call-outs by precisely identifying the issue and the actions or parts required before planning an on-site repair.

SHERPAL’s Energy Management module ensures reduced maintenance and replacement costs. By monitoring compliance with maintenance instructions (battery charging and water refilling, particulate filter regeneration, etc.), SHERPAL increases the lifespan of batteries and engine components and simplifies energy management.

The SHERPAL telematics solution enables the ability to set up geofence borders on job sites to avoid machine theft by triggering an automatic alert if a machine moves outside of authorized areas. SHERPAL also identifies risky behavior and sends an alert in case of entrapment or overload situations, making it easier to implement appropriate safety policies on a jobsite.

SHERPAL uses a timefence feature to define usage time slots and more easily detect non-contractual use of machines. An alert is sent if the equipment is working outside of the defined time frame, allowing the equipment owner to charge according to actual use. The permanent record provides better insights to improve the equipment’s uptime by possibly identifying underutilized machines, and providing usage, fault, and maintenance history that helps accurately represent the equipment’s resale value.

The Notification Centre allows sorting and customization of SHERPAL alerts so that only relevant business data is displayed. Users follow the most useful indicators and set alerts that enable quick identification of what action should be taken first to proactively manage the fleet.

Equipped with a 4G antenna, the robust telematic device offers stable and reliable connectivity, transmitting data regularly and securely to the servers using cellular technology and reporting the appearance and disappearance of any fault codes within seconds.

Software updates are automatic and without intervention. In addition, software embeds components and technologies that enable future possibilities.

Haulotte customers can access the  MyHaulotte service portal or integrate data into their existing system to display machine data.

Three subscription levels are available, each offering different content and features to match customer needs.

The SHERPAL solution will be offered as an option on all new Haulotte machines. Haulotte technicians or trained staff can also retrofit most older CAN bus machines with telematics. Upgrade kits are available in the Genuine Parts Store on MyHaulotte.com.

The SHERPAL solution is available in E.U. and EFTA countries, USA, Canada, Australia, and New-Zealand, with more countries undergoing certification to complete the territorial coverage of the solution.
