Konecranes has introduced its new Generation D lift truck platform, launching with diesel and electric reach stackers. The announcement was made at the TOC Europe exhibition in Hamburg, Germany.
The Generation D platform is designed as a modular system intended to support different operational requirements while simplifying fleet management and maintenance through a common architecture. The first products available under the platform are diesel and electric reach stackers, which are now available for order.
According to Konecranes, the platform has been developed with a focus on digital integration and long-term lifecycle performance. It features a cyber-secure digital architecture capable of connecting with terminal operating systems and third-party applications. It also supports over-the-air software updates, allowing equipment to remain up to date and enabling the addition of new features over time.
The system includes remote monitoring and diagnostics functions intended to support maintenance planning and troubleshooting, with the aim of reducing unplanned downtime.
“This is about maximum performance with minimum complexity. Generation D is designed to increase uptime by making fleet management and maintenance simpler. Drivers and mechanics benefit from working with a consistent platform, while fleet managers realize strong lifecycle value and low total cost of ownership,” says Jeffrey Stokes, director product & technology management and quality & customer satisfaction, lift trucks, Konecranes.
The diesel reach stackers on the Generation D platform continue to focus on established performance characteristics for container handling applications, while incorporating simplified maintenance processes intended to improve operational uptime.
The electric reach stackers produce zero tailpipe emissions during operation and offer acceleration up to 25% faster than comparable diesel models, according to the company. They also feature battery configurations and fast-charging options designed for both single-shift and continuous operations.
Both diesel and electric versions retain existing ergonomic design elements and visibility features, combined with a digital interface intended to present operational data in a simplified format for operators.
“Generation D represents a major step forward in how we support our customers’ long-term investment decisions. By introducing a common modular platform with a future-proof over-the-air enabled control system, we can deliver simplified fleet management across our portfolio. This lowers operational costs over the lifetime of the equipment and gives customers more flexibility in choosing the right technology for their current and future operations,” says Andreas Falk, senior vice president, lift trucks, Konecranes.
The company noted that Generation D reach stackers will initially be prioritized for European and North American markets due to upcoming regulatory requirements. Expansion of the platform to include additional lift truck categories, such as forklifts and container handlers, is also planned.
The launch is part of Konecranes’ Ecolifting initiative, which focuses on reducing tailpipe emissions through a range of technologies, including renewable diesel, hybrid systems, full electrification and emerging hydrogen solutions.
