Manitou Group Celebrates 50th Anniversary and Major Expansion

Manitou Group marked the 50th anniversary of its Yankton, South Dakota, plant with the inauguration of a 75,000-square-foot expansion. The $20 million investment adds to the site’s existing 220,000 square feet and introduces advanced industrial technologies, such as laser-cutting machines and an automated assembly line. This expansion will bolster production of telehandlers designed for the North American market.

The event was attended by Manitou Group Chairman Jacqueline Himsworth, CEO Michel Denis, local officials, and Yankton Mayor Mason Schramm. The facility has already hired 50 new employees, with more to come. This expansion follows the company’s recent growth in Madison, SD, underscoring Manitou’s commitment to the U.S. market.

"The expansion of our Yankton site, which is now 50 years old, strengthens our Group's historic presence in the United States. This is an important growth lever in a particularly dynamic market. This new industrial site will enable us to keep pace with this strong demand, while delivering ever greater added value to our customers,” Alexandre Caharel, VP product unit compact and articulated loaders, explains.

In a state where the unemployment rate is one of the lowest in the United States, Manitou Group has already hired 50 talents since the beginning of the expansion.
