Pettibone 944B is First Model in New Generation of Telehandlers

Pettibone introduces the Extendo 944B, the first model in its new generation of telescopic handlers.

Equipped with industry-leading hydraulics and designed for efficient operation and simplified serviceability, the 944B offers exceptional lifting capacity and reach for a wide array of material-handling applications.

The Extendo 944B is powered by a fuel-efficient, 117-hp Cummins QSF 3.8 Tier 4 Final turbo diesel engine that features featuring electronic control and SCR after-treatment.

A Parker IQAN-MD3 display has been added to provide instant engine and after-treatment diagnostics.

The unit’s proven Dana T12000 Powershift series transmission offers three forward speeds and reverse. It is complemented by a heavy-duty transmission cooler.

The 944B has a maximum capacity of  9,000 lbs., maximum forward reach of  30'3", and a maximum load height of 44'4".

Single-joystick pilot-operated controls allow smooth operation of all boom and auxiliary hydraulics. For operation in tight areas, the 944B offers four-wheel, two-wheel and crab steering, with a minimum turning radius of just 12'4". The unit is powerful, yet compact enough to fit under an 8-ft. doorway.

The Extendo's robust design features two wide-stance, heavy-duty lift cylinders with automatic fork and load leveling that eliminates the need for slave cylinders.

To further improve load stability, the 944B offers 24° frame sway (12° degrees left and right of center) and is equipped with a rear- axle stabilization system.

New service access doors let users remove only the front half of the enclosure to perform daily engine and transmission fluid checks, rather than the entire cover.

A battery-disconnect switch is now standard and accessible from the cab.

A cab step is now standard to help the operator climb in and out more easily.

The cab provides outstanding visibility at any boom position and features a comfortable adjustable suspension seat and adjustable right-side armrest.

The 944B features standard upgraded tires that have demonstrated increased longevity in the field.

The telehandler comes with a variety of standard fixed and side-tilt carriages from 48 to 72 in. Its array of optional attachments includes utility buckets and  pallet, lumber and block forks.

Other options include foam-filled tires, light packages, an enclosed climate-controlled cab, and several others.
