The SAF-T Conference Webinar Series will in 2014 with several focused topics on jobsite and aerial lift safety, standards and regulations, and technology. Webinars are currently scheduled to go through the month of October and are free to attend for industry professionals.
The first presentation in the series will take place, Thurs., July 17 at 2 pm EST. The session, "Top 10 Safety Tips for Operating Lifts on the Jobsite," will be presented by Scott Owyen, global training manager for Terex Aerial Work Platforms.
Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction workers, accounting for 269 of the 775 construction fatalities recorded in 2012. According to Scott Owyen, Global Training Manager, Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), those deaths could have been prevented.
In this presentation, Owyen will provide critical steps that aerial work platform operators can take to reduce the likelihood of a potential deadly fall from height. Among these tips are proper training and familiarization, performing pre-operation inspections and function tests before each shift, assessing the workplace for risks, and more.
